Welsh Challenge

I played well in tough conditions.  The wind and rain made the course very long.  I putted better but felt I did not capitalise on the par fives.   Back home this week to play in the  Scottish Challenge  in Aviemore.

The Open

I had an enjoyable time competing at The Open last week.  All friends and family were there which was great and I would like to thank everyone for their support and good wished.   Elliot and I were disappointed not to make the weekend.  The course was tough, you had to hit the fairways or you were penalised, just as I was, losing a ball on the 8th in my first round.   Unfortunately the weather conditions in the afternoon of my second round made it difficult to fight back with birdies which I needed to make the cut.  The experience of  Turnberry has made me more determined to play in the Open at St Andrews in 2010

The past few weeks

I have been rather busy these past few weeks playing in Sweden where I was 12th.  Then on to Switzerland where unfortunately I missed the cut.  I felt I played well but had difficulty in reading the greens.  Then onto the Open Qualifier where I  successfully qualified.  Looking forward to next week playing the Open especially as my big brother quaified also and my younger brother Zack will caddy for him.  On my way to France today to play in the Allianz Open at Lyon.

Thank you to everyone for your kind emails, they are very much appreciated.

I’m not at the Open to make up numbers

It’s great that both my brother Elliot and I have qualified for the Open next week at Turnberry. After my first round at Barassie, I went down to Turnberry for a photoshoot and bumped into Rory McIlroy. After hearing that I had shot a good score, he said he would try and have a practice round with me if I made it into The Open.

I then had to endure a long afternoon at Barassie as I waited to see if I had done enough and, thankfully, I had. It’s great that Elliot got through, too, and now it will be a great feeling for the whole family when we get to Turnberry. First and foremost, I’m going to enjoy the experience again, as I did at St Andrews in 2005. Of course, I can’t win the Silver Medal this time but the Claret Jug certainly wouldn’t be shabby. Yes, it is a tall order but Paul Lawrie, Ben Curtis and Todd Hamilton all sprung shocks in recent years and anything can happen around a links course.

Challenge Ireland

Struggled with my putting this week.  Again had a good ball stricking week.  Slightly disappointed with my second round but know exactly what needs to be worked on.

The Karnton Golf Austria

Played very nicely this week.  Hit the ball the best I have all year. Unfortuately I made a six on the last hole to miss the cut by 2.  Ths was due to over cutting my tee shot on the last into the water.  But overall ball stricking wise a very positive week.

Telenet Belguim

Happier with my performance this week.  Apart from the front nine in my last round it was a very positive week.  Over all much happier with the way my game is developing.

Piemonte Open Torino Italy

I enjoyed playing in the Piemonte Open in Italy.   I felt I played well from tee to green but unfortunately did not convert many putts.  I feel my golf is getting closer to where I want it to be and a good week  is just around the corner so I have to be patient and keep practicing.  This week I am off to Belgium to play in the Telenet Open then I am off  to play in Austria and then Ireland.

Morocco

I had a disappointing first round with two quadruples.  The damage was done in this round so I just had to make the best of the second round which I did with a one under in windy conditions.  I was very happy with my second days work and will build on this  for my next Challenge event which will be in Turin.
