LLOYD SALTMAN secured second spot for the second week running on the Hi 5 Tour in southern Spain. The Archerfield Links player closed with a 72 to finish on five-under-par in the 54-hole Condado de Alhama Challenge.
He finished nine shots behind the runaway winner, Danish amateur Lasse Sonne-Nielsen, but Saltman will have returned to Edinburgh today feeling encouraged by his performances in the two pre-Christmas events on the circuit.
His younger brother Zack finished in a tie for 11th in Murcia on eight-over, just ahead of Craigielaw’s Shaun McAllister on ten-over.
In Morocco, Elliot Saltman, the eldest of the three Aegon-sponsored brothers, slipped down the field after a closing 75 in the Samanah Masters, an event involving the leading players on the EuroPro Tour, the EPD Tour, the Alps Tour and the Nordic League this year.
Saltman had gone into the closing 18 holes buoyed by a fine 68 in the second round but had an up and down day before bringing down the curtain on his season with a triple-bogey 7 at his closing hole.
